The local 3-Pack in Google results are just that… the top three businesses that appear underneath the map. This list is returned based off of the users location and proximity to the business and the query they used.
For example, if you search “best doctor in Houston,” you would likely get three suggestions returned based off of the amount of information that Google can find, the quality of the businesses’ reviews, and the proximity to your location.
Before the Google local pack was created, businesses had only two main ways to be returned on the first page of Google: local PPC and local SEO. With three potential ways to get on page one of Google, there’s no harm in trying!
